CALM TRAINING

Serenity training is an important aspect of training police horses. The horses of the equestrian relay teams have to prove their reliability during an annual inspection. I would like to pass on the experience I have gained here.

Difficulties often arise when approaching an obstacle. This can be different floor coverings, a flag passage or a ball bath. It is important to properly support the horse as a rider, to react correctly, to give it self-confidence and to praise it at the right moment in order to positively reinforce its behavior. There should be no doubts about the horse, so the rider must know exactly what he / she is doing and also carry out the plan once drawn up. I accompany the exercises from the floor and adapt the tasks individually.

If horse and rider overcome these obstacles, that welds them together. Everyone knows that they can rely on the other. The horse experiences that nothing will happen to him and he relieves more and more stress. The riders get to know their horses better and better, learn how the horse reacts in difficult situations and how they can support it and also reduce their own fears and fears.

Every horse has different problem areas. That is why I address the horse with different activation stimuli (visual, tactile, auditory, olfactory).

Challenges that are initially mastered in a step can be increased for advanced couples. Here several stimuli can be set at the same time and a whole course of serenity exercises can then also be overcome at a gallop.

sequence

  • the serenity training is only offered for groups

  • After the horses have been warmed up independently, the horses come into the hall / square one after the other

  • each horse will be active in the serenity course for 20 minutes

  • after that it will remain in the hall as a lead horse (if necessary) for the next horse

  • so each horse is 40 minutes in the hall and there are always only two horses in the hall

  • the first horse should be experienced as it is alone in the hall

  • ! the horses are ridden and not led!

Prices

  • per rider 25  €

  • Maximum of 12 riders         (4 hours)
